Season 1 Pilot Re-Watch

The following contains SPOILERS re: things that have happened in Season 1 to Season 7!!

I'm not going to do a breakdown of what each episode is about. There are many places on the web where you can find mountains of information about the whole series including Supernatural Fan Wiki and Supernatural Wiki: A Supernatural Canon and Fandom Resource. I just want to jot down the random things that I see that mean more to me now that I have watched the whole series. I will also be listening for the music and making a note so I can add it to my music search.  I also want to play around with doing screen caps. I've never tried screen capture for a TV show or movie so this will be a learning experience for me. I love how I can use my love of different things to help expand my knowledge of how to do things on the computer.  It is good motivation!

At the beginning of the pilot, I noticed John was wearing a USMC shirt, watching a war movie and I had trouble seeing it but I think that was him in a uniform in the picture by the bedside (and at Sam's place years later).  I liked how we were able to see the beginning of Dean's protecting of Sam when his father put Baby Sam in Dean's arms and told him to take him outside of the burning house.   As I started getting to the part of the pilot with the boys grown up, I was surprised how different their voices sounded from what I had become used to in the later seasons. They both sounds higher pitched or more nasally. I'm not good at describing things like that but they both definitely sounded different.

I found it interesting to hear Dean say - I can't do this alone.  Sam tells him - yes, you can and Dean responds - yeah but I don't want to.  I liked seeing the root of so many things that crop up later.

When the Lady In White gets in the car with the first guy, you can't see her head when the car drives away. They thought to cover everything!

I had to laugh when I saw Dean buying road food. It reminded of when the the Leviathins were messing with the food supply and Dean couldn't buy his road food and had to live off Sammy's suggestions.

Enjoyed seeing Sammy pawing through Dean's cassette tapes and Dean setting him straight about who picks the music. Here is the dialogue from Supernatural Fan Wiki
Sam: Dude, you gotta update your cassette tape collection.
Dean: Why?
Sam
: Well, for one, they're cassette tapes. And two, Black Sabbath, Motörhead, Metallica?! It's the greatest hits of mullet rock.
Dean
: House rules, Sammy. Driver picks the music; shotgun shuts his cake hole.
Sam
: You know, Sammy is a chubby twelve-year-old. It's Sam, okay?
Dean
: Sorry, can't hear you. The music's too loud.

They follow the trail to Jericho and investigate missing men. I love the TV show Jericho so it was fun to see the sign to the city. One of my concerns before watching Supernatural was if it would be sacrilegious. I was glad to hear Sam's explanation of the pentagram not being a sign of the devil but it was worn for protection to ward off evil.  It was funny to see Dean covered in mud after his dive off the bridge. I can't imagine him getting in the Impala like that but I guess the Impala has been through worse. And he just took it so casually. Then he had to walk in to get the hotel room with all that mud from head to toe.  I enjoyed seeing the first Jerk/Bitch moment shortly after Dean said "No chick flick moments."

ALIAS USED - DEAN - Ted Nugent

Dad's journal made its first appearance when Dean was being interrogated by the police. Glad Dean snatched it when he made his great escape. Sam called the police station with a fake 911 call and it distracted the police long enough for Dean to escape.
